Definitions
Following a ruling by the European Court of Justice in June 2001, under UK legislation freelance workers and those on short-term employment contracts are entitled to paid annual leave from the first day of their employment. If the employment ends during the first 13 weeks, the employee will be able to claim for leave that has been accrued but not taken during this period.
Artists are entitled to 4 weeks paid holiday on a pro rata basis per year from the first day of their engagement.
For walk-on and supporting artists who are usually engaged on short term contracts an amount for untaken holiday will be paid in addition to the daily fee. This is calculated as one-twelfth of the daily rate:
